United Community Centers Opens First New Site in Over 50 Years, Bringing Early Childhood Education to Fort Worth’s 76110 Neighborhood

United Community Centers (UCC), a Fort Worth nonprofit serving families since 1909, will open UCC at Maren Grove Early Learning Center in September 2026 -- its first new site in more than 50 years. Located at 805 W. Shaw Street in the 76110 ZIP code, the center will offer full-day Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 programming to children and families in one of Fort Worth’s most underserved neighborhoods. UCC’s last new center, the Polytechnic Center, opened in 1975.
No FWISD school in 76110 currently offers Pre-K 3. Nineteen percent of residents live below the poverty line, and George C. Clark Elementary, the neighborhood’s feeder school, carries a TEA D rating and an F in student achievement. UCC at Maren Grove is co-located within a 90-unit low-income housing development, bringing on-site early learning directly to residents and the surrounding community.
The program is built on UCC’s proven Success By Six model. Across UCC’s existing centers in 2025-2026, 98% of students increased one or more reading levels, 70% increased three or more levels, and children reading above grade level rose from 21% to 30% in a single year. Enrollment is now open. Full-day programming runs Monday-Friday, 7:40 a.m.-3:10 p.m. Daily meals and snacks are provided and there is no tuition.
Progress Monitoring
Three times a year, children are assessed using the CLI Engage tool so teachers always know exactly where each child is and what they need next.
Quality Curriculum
Every classroom uses a research-based, Texas Pre-K-aligned curriculum that builds the foundational skills children need to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.
Purposeful Learning
Children learn in thoughtfully designed, developmentally appropriate spaces with engaging centers and materials that invite curiosity and hands-on discovery.
Family Communication
Teachers meet with families twice a year to celebrate growth, share progress, and strengthen the partnership between home and school.
Regular Updates
Families receive ongoing progress reports every six weeks, keeping parents connected and informed every step of the way.

UCC's Nutritional Meal Program provides over 98,456 meals each year for youth in our afterschool & summer programs. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks are prepared fresh on site in UCC's commercial kitchen by dedicated meal & kitchen staff.
