United Community Centers currently provides three critical literacy programs year-round to students who attend low-performing schools in FWISD.

SUCCESS BY SIX:

Success by Six is a foundational program for emerging readers in pre-K and K. SBS focuses on getting children ready to learn when they enter school because they have established the foundational knowledge, skills, and behaviors needed to fully participate in the kindergarten curriculum with their teacher.

LEVELED LITERACY INTERVENTION:

Leveled Literacy Intervention is an intensive program to advance the reading levels of high-risk primary grade students significantly below grade level. Rapid increases in reading levels are achieved through powerful, short-term intervention which provides daily, intensive, small-group instruction.

EDUCATION LITERACY PROGRAM:

Education Literacy Program is a literacy program for ages 4-12 which supplements FWISD instruction. Uses research-based curriculums Scholastic and Literacy by Design. Emphasizes small group guided reading, daily messages and read alouds, learning centers, word accuracy, fluency, and comprehension.
