Awareness Changes Tomorrow (ACT III)
Self-Family-Community
United Community Centers' ACT III program provides a framework where youth can gather in a safe environment and receive homework assistance, substance abuse prevention and conflict resolution training. Staff work with parents, family members and school representatives to improve academic success, self-confidence and social competency in our youth. Additionally, members from the greater Tarrant community serve as mentors, providing help with such things as resume writing, college entrance criteria and trade skill awareness. Through ACT III, youth are given opportunities to participate in cultural field trips and recreational activities. Field trips include museums, movies, businesses, sporting events and other fun and informative outings. For many youth, these trips are the only exposure they get to the world beyond their neighborhood.
